How to Prepare and Grill Delicious Arrosticini

Traditionally, arrosticini is made from sheep’s meat and was popularized by Italian shepherds from the region of Abruzzo in Italy. Nowadays, lamb meat is often used in place of mutton. In fact, savory meat skewers made of pork, beef, or chicken are also being cooked on spiducci grills.

However, if you are a fan of traditional arrosticini, follow our tips on how to prepare and grill this delectable dish.

  • Cut: When preparing skewers by hand, a sharp knife is essential for cutting your preferred meat.  If you want to prepare traditional arrosticini, a cut of lamb shoulder would be ideal for cutting a combination of meat and a bit of fat into small 2 -3cm chunks. Before skewering, soak the wooden skewers in water first to help combat burning during grilling.
  • Specialized Skewers: In case you are preparing food for a party, manual preparation can be time consuming. With a specialized product from Hitek Milan, the Milano Cubo, preparing skewers can be done in minutes. The Milano Cubo is easy to use and can make your own specialized spiedini skewers anytime. You just have to stack your chosen meat inside the Cubo, pierce the meat through the holes with your skewer, and cut into cubes using the guided grid.
  • Grilling: Charcoal grilling is the ideal method for cooking spiducci, it adds a smoky and flavorful taste to the food. At Hitek Milan, we manufacture the best spiedini and spiducci barbeques. Made from 304 stainless steel, our products are the perfect grills to cook your delicious food. However, if you don’t have the time to cook on charcoals, there’s a Milano BBQ grill top that you can fit to any of your existing gas barbeque. It can grill 24 skewers at a time and has a protective lip to prevent your fingers from burning while rotating your lamb. Whichever way you want to grill, pay close attention to your skewers as the meat is small that it cooks quickly.
  • Serving: Finish by adding a bit of coarse salt and olive oil to the traditionally unmarinated lamb. However, you can also try different exciting sauces such as lemon with olive oil and oregano, rosemary and olive oil, or chili flakes with olive oil and lemon zest. Serve alongside of freshly toasted bread and pepperoncini.

At Hitek Milan, we have a wide range of products for all your arrosticini grilling needs. Our BBQ grills are designed specifically for spiducci, with the bonus of adding your custom name to it! Our grills offer flexibility to suit your unique grilling styles and allows your grill skills to shine. Call or email us today to learn more about our high quality products.
